This talk illustrates how Windows Presentation Foundation can dramatically improve the overall software development experience. A sample application will be demonstrated; written using WPF, Entity Framework, the Model-View-ViewModel pattern and Telerik UI components.
I’ll then discuss three new features of WPF: Data Binding, Templating, and Commanding. I’ll show how they enable a new application architecture, the Model-View-ViewModel pattern, and illustrate how re-thinking our approach to design in terms of these three features allows for huge gains in flexibility, testability, and maintainability of our applications. We will also discuss the Entity Framework and demonstrate its capabilities as an object-relational mapper (ORM).
Finally, we’ll look at third-party UI components from Telerik and how we can leverage them to gain an enhanced user experience and efficiencies when developing our applications.
